First Nations Family Night will be Thursday, January 19th, 2012 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 pm. There will be a drumstick making activity for those that have made a drum and drum activity.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon there will be a Colour Group Event based on Literacy and the celebration of Reading. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite books from home to read to a buddy. Both Primary and Intermediate groups will meet together for Buddy Reading and for language activities.

Celebrate Family Literacy Day on Jan. 27, 2012! Read with a family member for 15 minutes on Jan.27 to help promote a lifelong love of literacy. Check out the website www.abclifeliteracy.ca for great ideas and activities for both parents and kids.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. I would like to welcome our five students from TRU who are completing their final teaching practicum at Barriere Elementary. Kaitlin Kretchmer will be with Mrs. Matthews, Graeme Hallett with Mrs. Kerslake, Cathy Worthington with Mrs. Peterson, Lindsay Durrant with Mrs. McGravey and Kyle Allan will be with Ms. McLeod. I know our students will be excited to be back to school. I expect all students to start the New Year out right by working hard on their school work and by displaying their best ROAR behaviour.
